Kit Digital and current 2026-2027 grants for SMEs

Is Kit Digital still open? We explain its real status in 2026, what Order TDF/39/2026 changes and which other digitalisation grants SMEs in Girona can use.

Kit Digital and current 2026-2027 grants for SMEs

Kit Digital is the Red.es grant programme, funded by the EU's Next Generation EU recovery funds, that has subsidised the digitalisation of SMEs and self-employed professionals in Spain since 2022 through a "digital voucher" for services such as a website, an online store or social media management. As of September 2026, there is no Kit Digital call open to new applications: the last ones closed on 31 October 2025. In this article we explain where the programme stands, what may happen next and which other digitalisation grants currently available can be used by SMEs in Girona and Catalonia.

Is Kit Digital open in 2026?

No. As of September 2026, new applications cannot be submitted. As Red.es itself announced, the last two open calls — for the self-employed, micro-businesses with 0 to fewer than 3 employees and jointly owned farms — closed on 31 October 2025. Over three years, the programme reached around 850,000 businesses and distributed more than €3.4 billion. While it was running, the voucher could be spent on categories such as website and online presence, e-commerce, social media management, customer management, e-invoicing or cybersecurity, among others.

That doesn't mean the programme has disappeared entirely. Businesses that were already awarded a voucher are still in the implementation and justification phase, and Red.es keeps support channels open for beneficiaries and digitalisation providers.

What does Order TDF/39/2026 change?

In January 2026, Order TDF/39/2026 of 26 January, amending the regulatory framework of Kit Digital, was published in Spain's official gazette, the BOE. In practical terms, it does three things:

  • It extends the validity of the framework until the funds are exhausted, so it can be used for future calls.
  • It requires unspent budget to be reinvested within the same investment line.
  • It allows applicants previously left out for lack of funding to be served if money remains available.

But caution is needed: a regulatory framework is not a call for applications. For the voucher to be available again, Red.es must publish a resolution with a specific budget, beneficiaries and deadlines in the BOE and in Spain's National Grants Database. Until that happens, any advert promising "the new Kit Digital is open" should be treated with suspicion.

What about Kit Consulting?

Kit Consulting is the sister programme, aimed at SMEs with 10 to 249 employees, which funded digital consultancy services with vouchers of €12,000, €18,000 or €24,000 depending on company size. It isn't accepting new applications either: as of September 2026, it is in the implementation and justification phase for vouchers already awarded. Up-to-date information on both programmes is available on the Acelera pyme portal.

Which digitalisation grants are open to SMEs in Catalonia?

With Kit Digital closed, the most interesting options for an SME in the Girona area are regional and Chamber of Commerce programmes. These are the ones we have been able to verify as of September 2026:

  • Pime Digital 2026 programme (Chambers of Commerce of Girona, Palamós and Sant Feliu de Guíxols). Co-funded by the ERDF, it combines an assisted digital diagnosis of the business with a grant to implement the solutions identified: up to 40% of a maximum investment of €7,490, i.e. up to €2,996 per company. It is aimed at SMEs with a minimum turnover of €100,000 and their registered office or production site within these chambers' area. Applications run from 30 June to 31 October 2026, or until the limited budget runs out. More details in the official Generalitat announcement (in Catalan).
  • Pime Cibersegura 2026 (same chambers). Same structure and deadlines, focused on cybersecurity: a diagnosis and a grant to implement protective measures.
  • ACCIÓ vouchers 2026. They subsidise expert advice in areas such as growth strategy (up to €8,000), internationalisation or innovation. They don't directly fund a website, but a strategy voucher can help define the company's digital roadmap. Some types can be applied for until 16 November 2026 or until the budget is exhausted. See the list of ACCIÓ calls.
  • Town councils and county councils. They often offer free advice and digital training for local shops and SMEs. These aren't direct grants, but they can be a good first step.

Since amounts and deadlines change and many grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, we recommend always checking the official terms before making any decision.

How can you tell whether a digitalisation grant is genuine?

Since Kit Digital became popular, adverts promising "100% subsidised" websites under calls that don't exist have multiplied. Before signing anything, check these points:

  1. That a call has actually been published in the BOE, the Catalan gazette (DOGC), the body's official e-office or the National Grants Database.
  2. That the company offering it doesn't ask for passwords to your digital certificates or access to your e-office account.
  3. That the quote details what is included and what happens if the grant isn't awarded.
  4. That you understand the justification obligations: many grants require you to keep the solution in place for a period and provide documentation.

Is it worth waiting for a new Kit Digital before building your website?

It depends on your case, but for most businesses the answer is that it's not wise to put everything on hold for a call with no date. While you wait, competitors keep winning clients and searches — increasingly made through AI assistants — don't stop. A well-built website is an investment that pays for itself with just a few new clients, and there are affordable options: at Somia Digital, a professional website starts at €495 (landing page), €795 (up to four pages) or €1,295 (corporate website of up to seven pages), guide prices excluding VAT. You can check our rates.

What you can do is get ready: be clear about what you need, have a detailed quote and keep your company's paperwork up to date. If a suitable grant opens, you'll be able to apply quickly — which matters for schemes awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

What should you digitalise first on a tight budget?

With or without grants, digitalising an SME works best in phases. This is the order we recommend when resources are limited:

  1. A clear, fast website explaining what you do, for whom and how to get in touch, with a page per service.
  2. Your Google Business Profile, complete and active, with answered reviews and up-to-date photos.
  3. Organised lead capture: forms that arrive in a single place, quick replies and, ideally, a simple CRM.
  4. Basic cybersecurity: backups, strong passwords, two-factor authentication and updates. This is exactly what the Pime Cibersegura programme covers.
  5. Ongoing optimisation on Google and in AI assistants, once the foundations are working.

Each phase can be done on its own and adds value by itself, so there's no need to wait until you have the full budget or every grant in place to get started.

Frequently asked questions

Can you apply for Kit Digital in 2026?

As of September 2026, no. The last calls closed on 31 October 2025 and no new one has been published. Only the implementation and justification of vouchers already awarded are ongoing.

Will Kit Digital come back?

Order TDF/39/2026 keeps the framework in force until the funds are exhausted and allows unspent money to be reinvested, but a new call requires a Red.es resolution published in the BOE. As of September 2026 there isn't one.

Which digitalisation grants are available for SMEs in Girona?

Among others, the Pime Digital 2026 programme run by the Chambers of Girona, Palamós and Sant Feliu de Guíxols (up to €2,996 per company, applications until 31 October 2026 or until funds run out) and ACCIÓ vouchers for expert advice.

How much did a website cost with Kit Digital?

The voucher covered the website and online presence solution according to the company's segment. Today, without a grant, a professional website at Somia Digital starts at €495 excluding VAT.

How can I avoid digitalisation grant scams?

Check that the call is published in the BOE, the DOGC, the body's official e-office or the National Grants Database, and never hand over passwords to your digital certificates.
