Paperwork for you to worry about

How do we register your trademark?

Registering a trademark is the legal procedure that gives you exclusive use of your name and logo: without it, any competitor can use them. At Somia Digital we guide businesses in Girona, Barcelona and the Costa Brava through the whole process — prior-art search, documentation and filing with the competent authorities — so your business identity is protected.

  1. 01

    Exhaustive prior-art search

First, we check your mark isn't already registered by another company in the classes that affect you — avoiding oppositions and wasted costs before you start.

    • Prior art
    • Nice classes
    • Opposition risk
  2. 02

    Documentation

We prepare all the paperwork to match your interests: name, logo, product and service classes, and territorial scope (Spain or the European Union).

    • OEPM / EUIPO
    • Name & logo
  3. 03

    Filing and follow-up

We file the application with the competent authorities and follow it through to grant: publications, deadlines and notifications, all handled by us.

    • Official filing
    • Deadline tracking
    • Until granted

Because without registration you don't own your name: a competitor could use it or, worse, register it before you and force a rename, losing everything you've invested in your brand. Registration gives you legal protection for a renewable 10 years.

The full process with the Spanish office usually takes 6 to 8 months if there are no oppositions. Good news: protection counts from the filing date, not the grant date.

It depends on where you do (or plan to do) business: a Spanish trademark is cheaper; an EU trademark protects you in all 27 countries at once. We look at your plans and recommend the most cost-effective option.
