Who is responsible

This website is run by Joan Cama Ribot, trading as Somia Digital (Spanish tax ID 41531670H, Carrer de Sant Joan, 16, 17200 Palafrugell, Girona, Spain). If you have any questions about this policy, write to hola@somiadigital.com.

What cookies and local storage are

Cookies are small files that a website stores in your browser to remember information from one page to the next, or from one visit to another. Local storage (localStorage and sessionStorage) works in a similar way: the browser keeps data from the website on your device.

Article 22.2 of Spanish Law 34/2002 (LSSI-CE) treats both in the same way: those that are strictly necessary for the site to work, or to provide a service you have asked for, do not require consent; everything else does.

How consent works on this site

The first time you visit, a notice lets you choose between accepting analytics cookies or keeping essential ones only; both options are given equal weight. Until you accept, the site does not load Google Analytics and your browser makes no requests to Google.

You can change your choice at any time, as easily as you made it, using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of any page or the button at the end of this one. If you withdraw consent, Google Analytics stops working immediately, we delete its cookies from this site and, if it had already loaded on the page, the page reloads so that nothing is left running.

Cookies we use

These are all the cookies the site may store in your browser:

• somia-cookie-consent · First-party (Somia Digital) · Technical. Remembers your cookie choice (all if you accept analytics, essential if you only want essential cookies) so we do not ask you again. Duration: 1 year. No consent required.
• NEXT_LOCALE · First-party (Somia Digital) · Technical. Remembers the language of the page you are viewing. Duration: session (deleted when you close the browser). No consent required.
• _ga · Google Analytics (Google) · Analytics. Gives the browser a random identifier so that visitors and visits can be counted in aggregate. Duration: 13 months (Google's default is 2 years; we have shortened it). Only if you accept analytics.
• _ga_* · Google Analytics (Google) · Analytics. Keeps track of the browsing session for statistics. Duration: 13 months. Only if you accept analytics.

Google Analytics shows us which pages are visited and some clicks, such as those on the call, email or WhatsApp buttons and form submissions. From the chat, only the topic category of the question is sent, never the text. The site does not load advertising or social media tags. Details of the processing are in the Privacy policy.

Local storage in your browser

Besides cookies, the site keeps the following data in your browser's localStorage or sessionStorage. All of it is technical or needed for features you use yourself; none of it is used to track you, and none of it requires consent:

• somia-cookie-consent (localStorage): a copy of your cookie choice, in case the browser does not keep the cookie. Kept until you delete it.
• theme (localStorage): light or dark theme, only if you change it with the site's switch. Kept until you delete it.
• somia-chat (localStorage): the history of your conversation with the assistant, with its language and date, so you can pick it up again if you come back. It only exists if you use the chat and lasts 7 days; starting a new conversation deletes it sooner.
• somia-chat-teaser (localStorage): a flag showing that the chat welcome message has already been displayed, so it does not appear again. Kept until you delete it.
• somia-chat-cid (localStorage): a random device identifier that contains none of your data. It is sent to our server when you use the chat or the domain checker, so that usage limits can be applied and abuse prevented. Kept until you delete it.
• somia-lang-switch (sessionStorage): a temporary note when you switch language, so the confirmation can be shown on the new page. Deleted straight away and, in any case, when you close the tab.

Cookie-free analytics (Rybbit)

To find out how many visits the site gets without relying on cookies, we use Rybbit, an analytics tool that runs on Somia Digital's own server in Europe and receives data through the site's own domain. It stores nothing on your device, which is why it does not depend on the cookie notice. It uses your IP address to work out your country and city and, combined with your browser, to generate an encrypted identifier that cannot reveal who you are. The Privacy policy explains this in more detail, including how to object.

Third-party services that load when you use them

Some parts of the site load services provided by other companies. These services may store their own cookies or data in your browser, under their own responsibility and policies:

• Cloudflare Turnstile (Cloudflare): a check, usually invisible, that protects the chat, the forms and the domain checker against bots. For cookies, Cloudflare refers to its cookie policy, which describes the ones it uses for security and CAPTCHA (such as cf_clearance) as strictly necessary. • Cal.com: the calendar for booking a meeting, on the contact page. It only loads when you open the meeting tab. Cal.com states that its app uses cookies to log you in, remember preferences and for security, and no third-party advertising cookies (Cal.com privacy policy).
• YouTube (Google): some projects include videos. We use privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com) and the video does not load until you click on it; from then on, Google handles the data under its privacy policy.
• Apple Podcasts (Apple): the podcast page includes the Apple Podcasts player, which does not load until you click on it; from then on, Apple may set cookies and handles the data under its privacy policy.

How to manage or delete cookies

As well as using “Cookie settings”, you can block or delete cookies and site data in your browser: Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge. If you block technical cookies, the site may ask you about cookies again on every visit.

You can also install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy whenever the site's cookies or services, or the law, change. The current version is always the one on this page, with the review date at the top. How we process personal data is described in the Privacy policy.
